As a member of a musical family, Balder Dendievel (°2002) took his first steps in violin when he was four years old. At the age of five, he switched to oboe. After studying at the Stedelijk Conservatorium Brugge, the!Kunsthumaniora Antwerpen, and the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp under the guidance of Luk Nielandt, Balder was admitted to the prestigious Hochschule für Musik 'Hanns Eisler' in Berlin in October 2019. There, he is studying under the tutelage of Prof. Dominik Wollenweber, the principal oboist of the Berliner Philharmoniker.

Balder is active as a soloist and as a member of orchestras and chamber ensembles. He was part of the International Junge Orchesterakademie, with which he toured Germany in April 2017 and recorded a CD for the Bayerische Rundfunk. Balder has been invited to perform with various orchestras, including the Symphony Orchestra of La Monnaie, the National Orchestra of Belgium, and the orchestra of the Hochschule für Musik Weimar. As a soloist, he has performed concertos by Bach, Marcello, Vivaldi, Mozart, and Richard Strauss.

Balder has won prizes in various regional competitions such as 'Vlamo', 'Sonatina', and 'Jonge Solisten aan Zee'. He was a finalist in the 'Young Belgian Talent' competition and in 2018, as the youngest participant, he won the 'Honda Competition for Classical Music', a competition among Belgian conservatories. His final recital was broadcast live on Musiq3. At the International Anton Rubinstein Chamber Music Competition in Düsseldorf, Balder, along with Jappe Dendievel and Anna Fuhrmann as a trio, received the award for the best performance of a work by W.A. Mozart. For his achievements, he was awarded the 'Gouden Label Jong Talent' by the magazine Klassiek Centraal.

Since September 2020, Balder has been named a NextGeneration Artist at the I SOLISTI ACADEMY. He has the opportunity to develop his own projects and share the stage with the ensemble. Additionally, Balder is an artist in residence at SWUK Vlaanderen.

Metamorfosen

Everything changes, nothing perishes.
